In December of last year, I moved to a beautiful new house in Uckfield. As a brand new build, it was very much a blank canvas when I moved in, with a large open plan lounge converting into the perfect home studio when I need it. With wooden floors and white walls and great natural light, it really is the perfect environment for taking lifestyle portraits and with the added benefit of using my portable studio lighting by Phottix, even the darkest, rainiest days are no barrier for getting fabulous photographs for my clients.

The photographs you see in this post were taken in the space shown above using a very simple set up of one very large soft box, with a reflector opposite to bounce the light and a simple backdrop placed away from the subject so as not to ‘over light’ it. I love to work with a mixture of natural light and studio lighting to help lift the shadows when photographing. It is amazing the results you can get just from eliminating distractions from the background!
