A few weeks ago I met with former beauty queen and winner of Miss Kenya UK and Miss East Africa UK for an interview and photoshoot for a new interview programme called ‘Girl Talk’. Inspired by the many amazing women I have had the pleasure of knowing over the years and continue to meet, the series offers thought provoking and in-depth interviews with women, covering a range of topics including body image, relationships, women empowerment, fashion, careers and mental health.
Following a career in the fashion industry, Vicky became involved behind the scenes in beauty pageants before being encouraged to enter herself. Her subsequent experience as a beauty queen, meant she was exposed to international relations, global business and philanthropy. She is an advocate for girls and women empowerment and has a deep interest in the developments of Africa and fell in love with the idea of businesses giving back, as well as equipping youth to have their own mindset.
In this interview we talk about perceptions of beauty, ageing beauty and social change.
